Pretty fabrics and finds for outdoor living

Pretty fabrics and accessories for Outdoor Living by Torie Jayne
1. Pink Moroccan pouffe
2. PVC - dotty taupe fabric
3. Bird trail fabric
4. Iris spot blanket
5. Solig solar powered outdoor lighting
6. Pink spot cotton duck fabric

This week in my series of posts, "Fridays Finds", I bring you a collection of pretty fabrics and finds that I would love to have in my "outdoor living room". I'm thinking of getting a white bench, making a comfy seat pad for it and scattering it in lots of handmade pretty cushions. For the inevitable colder nights, I will need some matching blankets to keep me warm. For lighting, I love the idea of hanging the pendant lights from brackets on the wall. Oh, and in my dreams some Moroccan pouffes to rest my feet on!

OK, I know Sundays here at Torie Jayne are normally reserved for showing you some of the lovely images I find on Flickr but I recently discovered Pinterest through the sweet Rachel at Lovely Clusters. It is a great new site that lets you collect, and showcase collections of, your favorite inspirational pics in a beautifully visual way. You simply add the "pin it" bookmarklet to your browser's toolbar and anytime you find a great image you click "pin it" and it will add it to your board. There is also an upload feature for your own images. This is one stylish site for creating inspirational mood boards. I am in love!

You can check out my boards, like I love Macarons, Shades of turquoise or Bird love and many more. If you're inspired by Pinterest like me, please follow my boards.♥♥♥

My little aqua book: laundry room

Laundry room shops
Laundry room shops

I am in the process of organizing my "shops I love" page, and replacing it with "my little aqua book" pages. My style is a little bit vintage, a dash of modern, and heavily colour palette driven. I like nothing better than the hunt for the perfectly coloured whisk, the cutest vintage cake stand or a whimsical tea towel!

First up, I share with you "my little aqua book" pages of shops that sell the prettiest laundry room goodies!

It must be all the sunny weather we have had recently but I am dreaming of going for a picnic. In the great British tradition of picnicking, I want to lay a blanket on the grass and kick my shoes off, have a basket full of yummy finger and fork food like fresh strawberries with lashings of cream, homemade raspberry jelly and sponge cakes, with the sun shining down on me (OK, that part's not so British). Oh, to dream...

Really Linda Barker is a gorgeous online store from Interiors & Product Designer Linda Barker. Linda was born in Yorkshire, England, and trained as a fine artist at West Surrey College of Art and Design. She is also well known as a television presenter, from such shows as Changing Rooms and House Invaders.

The online catalogue is full of a beautiful range of interior pieces, all of which have a calming neutral look to them. I especially love her metal food stand from the "Villa Verne" range, named after her exquisite holiday home situated in a wooded valley just outside the glamorous resort of St Tropez in the South of France.

Outdoor living room

Outdoor living room by Green Gate

With all the lovely weather we have had recently my mind has been buzzing with ideas for my outdoor space. I would love to create an outdoor living room on the back patio next to my garden shed. A stylish, comfortable place for casual dining and relaxing.

I want to make sure my space transitions gracefully from my alfresco eating area on the patio near the house, to the lawn, to the outdoor living room. So, I'm going to go for a similar colour palette to my alfresco dining but will tone down the red and green and add more white to make a softer pastel palette.

On my wish list for an outdoor living room is a white bench with lots of scatter cushions, subtle lighting, a bistro table and chairs, and an open fire. I dream of snuggling up on the bench at night toasting marshmallows!

Here are a few of my inspirational tears for colour and theme:

A touch of lavender and lilac

Vanilla Dreams by Skona Hem

Interiors by Bloomingville

Sun Parasol by House Doctor

Filing cabinet by House Doctor

I am loving the accents of lavender and lilac in the above pics. They add a subtle feminine touch to otherwise quite neutral colour schemes.

The chair in the fist pic has me pining for a steel stool from Bailey's Home and Garden for my craft room. I have a vintage 1930's stainless steel filing cabinet in my craft room already and think the stool would be a perfect fit!

I don't have much lilac or lavender in my home but all the flowers in my garden are either purple or white coloured, from the large bushes of silver Anouk Lavender to the purple flowering herb pots of chives, sage and rosemary. White petunia's, purple and white Dwarf Lupins and Aubrietas add color to my borders. More of this to come later.
