Pretty Seaside Bunting

Pretty Seaside Bunting
Yesterday I showed you how easy it is to make your own fabric bunting, have you been inspired to make your own?
How about the above selection of 100% cotton pretty fabrics from Michael Miller Fabrics "Out to Sea" collection in the morning coral colour palette by Sarah Jane. Available from Eclectic maker in fat quarters (i.e. approx. 50cm by 55cm)or a continuos length (112/114 cm wide).

I just adore the pirate girls, sea mermaids playing, nautical maps, wheels and narwhales!

Fabric covered hangers

DIY fabric hangers

Yesterday I showed you my spray painted hangers and a glimpse at my fabric covered hangers for my guest room. So today I am showing you how I made my fabric covered hangers using the scraps of tea towels left over from my Pom pom boudoir cushions.

I am making a lot of my Christmas gifts this year but I don't want to ruin the surprise for my friends and family so I will be sharing the tutorials in the New year. However I think these hangers would make a super cute gift!

Fabric covered hangers Tools and Materials
  • Wire hangers ( Dry cleaners)
  • Double sided tape
  • Scraps of fabric
  • PVA glue

Fabric covered hangers, How-to step by step

Fabric covered hangers tutorial - steps 1-4
Start by laying strips of double sided tape on to your scraps of fabric. Carefully cut out your strips of fabric along the edge of the tape so your strips are entirely covered by the tape. Peel back a few centimetres of the backing tape and attach end of strip on to the hanger. Wrap the strip tightly around the hanger, tape side down.

Continue wrapping tightly until you run out of fabric. start up again, always disguising the end from the previous strip.
When you get back around to where you started, wrap the strip round the"hook" of the hanger. Trim off any long loose ends and tie a bow with ribbon at neck.

In my recent post pretty fabrics and finds for outdoor living I featured the lovely Bird Trail fabric from Clarke & Clarke. I adore the pretty birds and butterflies adorning the delicate floral print and I am also loving their cute coastal style print, Beach Huts. So, I thought I would share some more lovely images from them and a little bit about them.

Pretty fabrics and finds for outdoor living

Pretty fabrics and accessories for Outdoor Living by Torie Jayne
1. Pink Moroccan pouffe
2. PVC - dotty taupe fabric
3. Bird trail fabric
4. Iris spot blanket
5. Solig solar powered outdoor lighting
6. Pink spot cotton duck fabric

This week in my series of posts, "Fridays Finds", I bring you a collection of pretty fabrics and finds that I would love to have in my "outdoor living room". I'm thinking of getting a white bench, making a comfy seat pad for it and scattering it in lots of handmade pretty cushions. For the inevitable colder nights, I will need some matching blankets to keep me warm. For lighting, I love the idea of hanging the pendant lights from brackets on the wall. Oh, and in my dreams some Moroccan pouffes to rest my feet on!

It seems from the response to Sunday's Flick faves I am not the only person who loves Amy Butler. So, I just had to show you one of her newer collections: "Love". In a colour palette of navy, cornflower, aqua, lavender lime and pink, the gorgeous florals just leap from the page.

She is inspired by vintage fabrics and loves the "hunt" of finding great pieces in flea markets, shops and shopping abroad. Oh, how I can relate to that! I love the hunt, too!

It is also great news that here in the UK John Lewis stocks her fabric and books.
