Spring Pastels

Last week I went to the Top Drawer interior show at Earl's Court in London. It was full of great stands full of all the new Spring products hitting the stores soon. I especially loved the abundance of soft, chalky pastel colours for every room in the house!

So this week on Inspirational Pins I wanted to share with you my current fave pastel interior shots from my Pinterest boards. From the gorgeous striped feature wall and pretty floral cushions in the living room to the stack of candy striped tins adorned with birds and fauna. A pastel pink Smeg fridge and lavender oven set against duck egg blue units and, last but not least, the candy coloured crockery set hanging on the wall.

I spent the whole weekend in my garden, painting the fences, painting my pots, weeding and planting. All in an effort to make it a more enjoyable place to sit during the Summer months.

I love all the pretty pastels in the above pics, especially the pastel bunting which is made from triangles of plywood painted in Cuprinol Garden Shades paint. You can read more about them here. I so need to make these, perhaps adding some polka dots to them!

This year I also need to repaint my garden shed due to general wear and tear and, after seeing these pics, I am considering painting it in a lighter colour.

Rice DK Autumn/Winter 2009

The Rice DK Autumn/Winter 2009 catalogue is now up on their website and is full of beautiful images like those above. Danish designer house Rice DK "specializes in fair trade homewares with a great strong design and social ethic. Rice is fair trade certified to SA8000 and works closely with the communities that produce and manufacture its products."

I just love the fabric picture frames on the pink fridge and I so want to get their pale pink rolling pin in the last pic to match my kitchen baking utensils.

Cute kitchen cupboard

I wanted to be able to open my kitchen cupboard in the morning to make a cup of tea and be made to smile... So, I put all my pretty tableware in the same cupboard as the tea items.

On the top shelf: cereal and pasta bowls from the Denby Flavours range in Coconut, Raspberry and Blueberry colours. Unfortunately, they are now discontinued but I believe some in the same range are still available from Matching China. The gingham sugar pourer is from Liberty.


On the middle shelf: dinner and side plates, also from the Denby Flavours range. The small cupcake cups came as a set of four from the Playing House range by Rosanna. These are available in the UK from Love the Rain.


On the bottom shelf: cut-glass lid jars are vintage, filled with strawberry milkshake granules, sugar and tea bags. The Sprig tanker and tea set is from Cath Kidston. The "I am a Princess", "I heart Shopping", "I heart Music", and "I heart Snogging" are all from Toby Pimlico. The tube of pale blue sugar hearts and the tea spoons are from Japan.
