My Guest room Stationery

Guest room table

One of my favourite top tips for designing a guest room was...
"Think about what you'd expect to find in a 5 star hotel"

Stationery!

For the pen & pencil pot I upcycled a tin can with some pretty patterned paper from Rie Elise Larsen. Tutorial here: Pretty pen pots. To jot down directions or notes I have provided a "love is in the air" paper pad I bought from TKMaxx and filled my bunny jars with washi tape, paperclips, eraser and packaging string. I couldn't find a mouse mat I liked so I designed one to match. For some Hotel chic I bought some paper and envelopes from Paperchase and hung them on the wall using a Command mini clip and one of my pretty bulldog clips. Now my guests have all the stationery they need to feel comfortable!

Cute stationery @ Top Drawer

Pleased to Meet @ Top Drawer
There were lots of lovely stationery brands at the trend show, Top Drawer. My top three favourites were Pleased to Meet, Katy & June and Gellie Design.

Pleased to Meet is the brainchild of Daniel and Marcel Could Hornung. The pair met in the US and when they moved to Berlin in 2004 they started designing first class products locally printed on fine papers and lovingly hand packaged. Their style can be described as retro, with simple aesthetics inspired by their love of American Mid Century Design. On show were bird print cards in pale blue and ochre, woodland themed gift wrap in taupe, and deep blue fish paper. The stationery was beautifully styled on top of wooden crates with vintage typewriters, pops of yellow string and bright red stools.

Katy & June @Top Drawer
Katy & June stationery
Katy & June was founded by Katy Lee and June Kim who wanted to bring Korean stationery and gift products to the world! They have selected a broad range of stationery and gifts, like deer printed ringbinders, natural woodland themed gift wrap, and tags and graphic printed notebooks.

Gellie Design is a small greeting card publisher based in High Wycombe which designs and produces beautiful, contemporary and unique greeting cards. Printed and hand finished in the UK they had all occasions covered with cute cards. I loved their mix of prints and use of embellishments with embossed and glittered details.

I'm so pleased to announce a giveaway worth $50 of store credit for Thank you cards shop, and it's open to readers worldwide!

Thank you cards shop is the brainchild of Vancouver based graphic designer Amy Lowry, who loves stationery! She got her start in designing stationery for her own wedding almost 6 years ago and from there she was hooked.

Almost everything about her wedding was DIY, from the favors to the stationery, to the bridesmaids jewelry and the cupcakes at the after party! When it came time to design the 'thank you' cards for the wedding she found herself short on time – and ended up shopping for cards, but wasn’t totally happy with the selection available and the lack of customized options. So, years later Thank you cards shop was born.

All of the wonderfully designed cards are digitally printed on high quality white card stock and professionally printed and beautifully packaged in her studio. Amy also owns a blog where she posts free printables and shares pics of her lovely photo shoots, amongst other treasures!

To enter, please visit Thank you cards shop and then leave a comment below this post letting me know what you would spend your store credit on. The giveaway ends on Saturday, April 23rd 2011 at 10pm (GMT) and I will randomly select and announce a winner on Sunday, April 24th.
