Paper Flowers for Easter

This past weekend I started to make paper flowers for my Easter tree and the little bunnies wanted one each! So now I have a few less for my tree, but don't they look cute!

Tools and Materials

• Petal pairs flower punch
• Craft pick
• Card
• Gold sequins
• Millinery flower stamens
• Double sided tape/PVA glue

Pretty Easter Egg boxes, How-to step by step



Start by punching out the petal pairs until you have a pair for each flower you want to make. Place one of each petal on top of each other and tuck one punched petal shape into another to create a beautiful flower. Then carefully push the craft pick through the centre of each flower so you have a small hole in the centre. Thread a sequin onto a stamen and thread the stamen through the hole. Glue in place.

My Easter Tree 2011

My Easter Tree

As usual I was running around at the last minute before Easter trying to get my table and food looking the best I could. So, apologies for my Easter posts coming after Easter, but hey I think the tree could be cute wedding table decor.

I love Easter trees and have made several over the years. From the bird-filled one of 2009 or last year's cherry blossom sprigs in a vase. This year I wanted to make my Easter tree look like a mini potted tree. After gathering a couple of handfuls of twigs in the local woods I used a similar method to my Halloween tree but this time doing it in soft pastel shades of green.

I also wanted to add flowers and went for making my own paper ones so I could match the colours perfectly to my Easter colour palette. I then hung hand painted butterflies, hand decorated eggs and handmade birds, all in my Easter colours. Unfortunately I ran out of time and only finished a couple of my birds (free pattern and how-to coming soon!). I think the fabric birds would look cute around the house at any time of year!

Easter Tree
What you will need:
Branches
Plant pot
Pink paper filler
Pale green paint
Apple green paint
Plastic leaves
Small pebbles
Pink paper flowers
Blue paper flowers
Easter hanging butterflies
Decoupage eggs
Hand-painted surprise eggs
Candy filled Easter eggs
Polka dot Fabric birds
PVA glue
Glue gun
Masking tape




Instructions

1. Lay branches out on newspaper
2. Spray branches with white paint and leave to dry
3. Arrange branches together and wrap in masking tape to secure
4. Paint plant pot, leave to dry

5. Place branches in pot and fill with small pebbles, pour PVA over the top of the stones and leave to dry
6. Paint branches with pale green paint
7. Attach pink and blue flowers to the branches using glue gun
8. Cover pebbles in pot with pink paper filler

9. Paint plastic leaves and leave to dry
10. Attach leaves to branches using glue gun
11. Hang butterflies
12. Hang eggs

Pink Flowers for my Easter tree

When I saw the paper punch petal pairs on the Tonic Studio website I just had to give them a go! I made loads of different varieties with them just to see all the combo's. I then had the idea of making some paper flowers for this year's Easter Tree. I used the Bird Trail fabric as inspiration for the flowers I would use on my Easter Tree. First up are the pretty pink paper flowers with a dark pink centre.

Easter Pink Flowers
What you will need:
Petal Pairs Box Set 2
Petal Pairs Box Set 1
Pale Pink Card
Dark Pink Card
Flamingo Fun pink paint





Instructions

1. Cut 2 pale pink flowers
2. Cut 1 dark pink flower
3. Fold in petals on the three petal punches, tuck one pale pink petal punch into another
4. Paint the pale pink flowers, stick dark pink petal in centre
