Pink wheelbarrow planter
I was recently given the old wheelbarrow that I had as a kid. Oh, how I loved that wheelbarrow, I used to help my dad collect up the leaves from the lawn with it in the autumn and gathered daisies into it in the summer to make daisy chains with. But after thirty years hidden in the corner of my parents' garage, it needed a little love!
After giving it a good clean, I painted it with white undercoat exterior paint.
Then I sprayed it with Rust-Oleams painters touch Candy Pink gloss spray paint.
I think my five year old self would have loved it as it is now pretty in pink!
I wanted to fill it with pretty potted plants but couldn't find the right size pots to fill the space. So I up-cycled some tin cans with spray paint and potted them with some pink and purple flowering plants.

Pretty wooden bunting
To add some colour and interest to my boring green fence behind my new corner etagere I decided to make some wooden bunting. I bought some wooden triangles from Craft Shapes and using their fab "drilling holes service" - I requested that they drill two small holes at the top of the triangles. I then painted them in a range of pastel shades using Cuprinol Garden Shades to protect the wood from the damaging effect of the weather. You can order 30ml mini tester pots from Cuprinol for £1 each! I made the Lavender and Beach Blue colours paler by mixing with Pale Jasmine. I strung them with bakers twine and attached them to the fence using cup hooks.
Pretty wooden bunting
Tools and materials
- Wooden triangles - 14cm, laser cut wooden bunting shapes x 3
- Cuprinol Beach Blue garden shade
- Cuprinol Pale Jasmine garden shade
- Cuprinol Sweet Pea garden shade
- Cuprinol Coastal mint garden shade
- Cuprinol Lavender garden shade
- Pink and white bakers twine
Start by painting the bunting wooden shapes in several coats of paint till you have a solid even colour on all sides. When paint is completely dry, thread bakers twine through the holes and hang!

My corner etagere
Yesterday I showed you my handmade herb labels, so today I wanted to share with you where they sit...
On my new corner etagere! I bought it in the sale from Greenfingers.com and gave it several coats of Cuprinol garden shades in Pale Jasmine paint. I then filled it with Kew Long Tom plant pots in a variety of pastel shades I bought from Terrace & Garden. It now brightens up the corner of my garden outside my kitchen french doors and is perfectly placed for snipping herbs whilst cooking!
Corner etagere from Greenfingers.com £19.99, unpainted

Bird house herb labels
This past weekend the sun finally came out to play! I finally get to show you some of the crafts I have been working on for my garden. First up are my birdhouse herb labels, which I painted in Cuprinol Garden Shades to protect the wood from the damaging effect of the weather. You can order 30ml mini tester pots from Cuprinol for £1 each! I made the Lavender and Beach Blue colours paler by mixing with Pale Jasmine.
Birdhouse herb labels
Tools and materials
- Wooden lollipop sticks - 114mm x 10mm
- Birch plywood bird house shapes
- Cuprinol Beach Blue garden shade
- Cuprinol Pale Jasmine garden shade
- Cuprinol Sweet Pea garden shade
- Cuprinol Coastal Mint garden shade
- Cuprinol Lavender garden shade
- Ink jet water-slide decal paper in clear
- Clear vanish spray
Start by painting the birdhouse wooden shapes and lollipop sticks in several coats of paint till you have a solid even colour on all sides. When paint is completely dry, glue lollipop stick to birdhouse shape.
Print labels onto a regular sheet of paper so you can check the labels for size and colour. Once you are happy with the size and colour of the labels, print them on to the glossy coated side of the decal paper. In a well ventilated area, and with newspaper laid on the ground to protect the surface, coat the printed labels with an even coat of clear varnish. Leave to dry for about 30mins. Next, carefully cut out the labels. Place cut-out labels into a bowl of water and leave for up to 30 seconds. Before placing the decals onto the painted birdhouses, wet the surface of the birdhouses so you can slide the decals into position easily. Remove label from water and place it facing up on your birdhouses. Carefully slide the decal paper slightly and attach the corner lip of the decal onto the birdhouse shape. Once you have the lip attached to the birdhouse shape, gently pull the backing paper away and adhere label to birdhouse shape. Once the decal is attached to the birdhouse shape, carefully slide it around to your desired position. Then gently rub the label with a lint free cloth to remove any air bubbles and leave to dry for 3-4 hours. Finally, spray birdhouse label with a coat of clear vanish.
Tips: Use clear varnish spray in a well-ventilated area and protect your work surface from overspray with a newspaper. To start the paint flow properly make sure you have shaken the paint enough (refer to directions on can) and spray first on to newspaper. Spray varnish 30cm away from labels and spray in a sweeping motion maintaining a constant distance from the printed labels. Ensure labels are fully coated in varnish or there will be a leakage of ink when placed in the bowl of water at the later stage.
To make my pale aqua colour I mixed Pale Jasmine with Beach blue.

Making Magazine - Beach Beautiful
Woo hoo! A few weeks ago I told you how busy I had been and promised to share with you some exciting news ...
Yesterday morning on my way to work I ran into the newsagent and bought the latest copy of Making magazine (I couldn't wait for it to be delivered!). I excitedly opened it and was delighted to see my shell mirror on page 3 with a lovely introduction about me and my blog by editor, Emma.
"New to Making this month is designer Torie Jayne. I recently came across Torie's website and fell in love with her simple ideas and clean fresh colourways and spent the next hour fantasizing about living in her uncluttered world, before returning to my own very cluttered one and contacted her with an invitation to share her ideas with Making. Happily she obliged and has made some gorgeous projects to add a little more seaside magic to this issue"
Page 47 - Q&A with me
Page 48 - My shell mirror
Page 49 - My shell mirror instructions and my cockle fairy lights
Thank you to Emma and the lovely team at Making - beautiful crafts for your home magazine - for the lovely feature and for inviting me to be part of this great magazine, which is full of Beach Beautiful craft ideas like the beautiful sequin-trimmed Grecian dress, sun lounger makeover and the prettiest paper windmills, to name a few.
For a sneak peak at one of the two crafts I have made for next month's issue check out page 81!

My beads and sequins organized
I have finally finished sorting all my beads and sequins! I had dozens of plastic bags, pots and tubes filled with sequins and beads and could spend ages rifling through my boxes to find what I was looking for! So, after buying a bunch of small, plastic, stackable pots and some clear drawers from Muji I was well on my way to getting them organized. On a recent trip to Tiger I saw they had some larger stackable pots and at £2 a stack they were considerably cheaper than elsewhere. I bought some and finally all my beads and sequins had a home!
I love how easy it is to find what I am looking for now and because the pots can be attached to each other in any combo, if I get new beads and trims I can re-arrange them in colour order!

Strawberries
Source 1, 2, 7 & 8, 4, 3 & 5, 6
Today on Inspirational Pins I bring you my first "seasonal fruit" inspiration: juicy, summery strawberries.
Here in the UK strawberries are in season for only six weeks from early June to mid-August. The Elsanta variety accounts for 80 per cent of the British fruit sold in UK supermarkets, however other varieties are available at "pick your own" farms.
Strawberries are synonymous with the British summer and during the Wimbledon tennis tournament roughly 27,000 kilos of strawberries are eaten!
I love baking with fresh fruit and now when I need inspiration for my strawberries I can peruse my Pinterest board, Strawberries. Top of my list of things to try is the mini eclairs with strawberries but I will need to adapt the recipe to be gluten free!
What's your favourite strawberry recipe?

Welcome to Friday Feature. This week I am sharing with you the beautiful work of stylist, Rebecca Newport.
Rebecca Newport is a London based freelance stylist for interiors, still life and food props. After studying Textile Design at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art she started life out as a fashion and homeware buyer for BHS and Marks and Spencer. Since then she has turned her attention to styling and her delightful work can be seen in Elle Decoration, Country Living Magazine and Country Homes and Interiors magazine, to name a few.
